Yoko Ono is a multimedia artist, singer, songwriter and peace activist. She grew up in war torn Japan, but moved to New York City in 1953.

Forever linked to John Lennon, they first met at the Indica Gallery in London, where she was preparing for a conceptual art exhibition. Lennon was initially unimpressed with the exhibits he saw, but one pice by Ono entitled “Ceiling Painting/Yes Painting”, had a ladder with a spyglass at the top. When he climbed the ladder, Lennon felt a little foolish, but he looked through the spyglass and he saw the word “yes”.

They married 3 years later.

In 2017, 40 years after its release, Yoko was co-credited with writing song of the century “Imagine” after an archival clip of Lennon was found with him saying that Imagine “should be credited as a Lennon-Ono song, a lot of it - the lyric and the concept - came from Yoko, but those days I was a bit more selfish, a bit more macho and I sort of omitted to mention her”.
