Born David Robert Jones, better known as David Bowie, he was the the ultimate king of re-invention. Never afraid to push the boundaries both musically and visually, he always accepted that failure was merely the risk one had to take to be a pioneer.
His failures were few and he is regarded as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, selling over 100 million records worldwide.
Having grown up in London, Bowie lived in both Berlin and Switzerland before finally moving to New York City in the early nineties with his wife Iman. He is later quoted as saying “I realized the other day that I’ve lived in New York longer than I’ve lived anywhere else. It’s amazing, I am a New Yorker.”
